Seal Pup at Ythan Estuary, Newburgh, Aberdeenshire

HQ received a call from Eva at 14.23. She had seen a seal pup in a busy dog walking area and thought that it may also have an eye injury. A call was put out to local medics for the pup to be checked. Nick Duthie and Stuart Fraser responded and were on their way and the light was fading. The pup was found to be very malnourished and one of its eyes was weeping and full of puss. By the time the pup had been picked up assessed and put in the carrier it was dark. Lawrence from Grampian Wildlife Centre had also received our text message and advised that he would be able to take the pup in for treatment.

Our thanks go to Eva, Nick Duthie, Stuart Fraser and Lawrence at Grampian Wildlife Centre.
