Injured Pup Picked Up From Porthcurno

Injured seal pupAn early morning call from the National Seal Sanctuary, got Area Co-ordinator Dave Jarvis and medic Lesley Jarvis out of bed. A call had been received regarding a pup on the beach at Pothcurno, which was giving cause for concern. Because of several other abortive journeys to the same location earlier in the pupping season, Dave decided to contact Becci Taylor, who had enrolled on the forthcoming BDMLR training course at St Mawes, as she lived in very close proximity to the location and asked her to secure the scene, whilst Dave, Lesley and Area Co-ordinator Tim Bain made there way to the beach. Upon arrival Tim soon made contact with Becci near the tideline. The pup was uplifted and moved further up the beach for assessment, where it was found to have a high temperature, swollen rear flipper and oedema in its right eye. Therefore the pup was transported to the Gweek.
