RSPCA and BDMLR rescue and relay seal pup

Seal pupBDMLR received a call from Joe who was walking on the beach at Danes Dyke in North Yorkshire. He had spotted a small seal on the rocks which looked very lethargic and when he approached made no attempt to move away.

A bulk message was sent out to local medics for assistance, when Helen the local RSPCA Inspector called in to advise that she was with the seal and confirmed that the seal was underweight and possibly had a bite wound on it's body. Helen with the help of Joe was able to pick the seal up and take it straight to Swanbridge Vets for fluids. RSPCA East Winch was contacted and offered to take the pup in for treatment. The pup was taken to East Winch by Medic's Dave Murray and Russell New.

Many thanks to Helen, Joe, Swanbridge Vets, Dave, Russell and RSPCA East Winch for such swift action.
