Minke Whale at Burnham on Sea

Minke whale bodyAt 18.15 on August 30th, Out Of Hours Coordinator Steve O'Connor received a call on Sunday evening from Mark at B.A.R.B (Burnham on Sea Area rescue Boat). He had received a report of a Minke whale approx 9-10 meter long on a mud bank and was thought to be alive. The jet skier who had seen bubbles from the whale had tried to tow it out to sea with a rope and his jet ski. The last reported sighting was that the whale was drifting out to sea.

On Tuesday 1st September a Minke whale had been washed up at Barry, South Wales. On inspection of the body it is believed to be the same whale and has been dead for possibly a week.
