Turtle at Trebarwith, Cornwall

Loggerhead Turtle, Trebarwith StrandThis is Steve, (named by Faye a long story) The loggerhead Turtle found at Trebarwith Strand in a rock pool.

I received a call from Dave around 1.30pm regarding a washed up Turtle in Trebarwith Strand, near Delabole. When I arrived on the beach I was welcomed by Coastguard Chris who told me he had already picked up the turtle, which he found in a rock pool near by. He had put it somewhere safe away from the public and their dogs as they were trying to eat and attack it.

Chris took me back to the Coastguards base and there I was met by Steve a gorgeous Loggerhead turtle. There appeared no sign of injuries just dehydration and exhaustion.

I met up with Faye Archell who rang David at the Blue Reef Aquarium to seek advice regarding the turtles dry skin. Faye gave me a "guided drive" to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay (as I wasn't sure of directions) as they will be looking after Steve until it is ready to be released. He/she is a handsome one for sure!!

Big thanks go to Chris from the Trebarwith Coastguard and his team.
