Hull Maritime Festival Report

Raising funds for BMDLRThe BDMLR Humber Area Team were again present at the yearly Maritime Festival in Hull which took place over the weekend of 5th/6th September.

It has been a pleasant and successful weekend. The Clipper 2009 international fleet of racing boats entered the Marina where Dutch, English and others barges and boats were docked and looking fantastic! The boats generated a great backdrop to the event while people of all ages strolled along the marina enjoying ice creams, admiring boats, listening to sea shanties being sung by various groups on the stage, and visiting the various stalls on site. We had a lovely stall, rich with merchandise and information. Local people recognised us from last year and enquired about our recent involvements and rescues.

On Sunday we were also called out to Spurn Point for two seals around 1.00pm Tanya, her father Graham and myself went to the Point (30 miles away) while Joel, Dave and our children (Jenny, Lucy and Sam) manned the stall.

We were a small team of volunteers but a great team, full of enthusiasm, laughter and passion for what we do and represent. A very successful fundraising event with a grand total of £348.00 being raised!! Many thanks to Dave, Graham and Tanya for their presence and help throughout the weekend. Tanya made and sold for BDMLR some really nice photos that she had taken on her rescues... people and children really liked them!

Many thanks to the people of Hull and visitors who have donated generously to our organisation and supported our cause warmly and consistently.
