BDMLR conference a great success!

This year's BDMLR was held at the Great North Museum Hancock, Newcastle, on Saturday October 6th 2012.

An all-day event, a variety of speakers from BDMLR and other organisations were there to inform and amuse!  As well as looking at national issues with Alan Knight OBE (BDMLR), Dr Paul Jepson (CSIP), Dr Mike Tetley (WDCS), Nick Greenwood (MMO) and Alison Hood (Born Free Foundation) there was also a strong local flavour to the content from Richard Ilderton (BDMLR), Martin Kitching (MarineLife) and Alison Lomax (ORCA), who stepped in at the last minute as David Steel from the National Trust on the Farne Islands sadly failed to appear!

Many thanks to all who came along as they really made the day.  It's always great to get such a positive reaction from the audience and we hope the variety of topics covered by the speakers entertained and enlightened all.  A big thanks therefore also to them, as well as our friends on the various stalls from Born Free Foundation, Marinelife/Northern Experience, Sea Shepherd, ORCA and the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.

Plenty of fun was had by all and the trip out to the Farnes the following day with Martin Kitching from Northern Experience was superb - lots of very healthy grey seals out there were just as we like them!
