Breaking News - BDMLR helping SW sea birds

BDMLR medics in Cornwall have been out this afternoon and this evening helping collect sea birds that are washing ashore coated in a very nasty sticky substance.

BDMLR's  Cornwall coordinator and director Dave Jarvis and his wife Lesley are on their way to an RSPCA centre at St Columb with 4 Guillemots, 2 from Downderry and 2 from Seaton. Unfortunately some of the birds found have been in very bad condition and there are many dead, most of the birds are Guillemots but a Gannet and Cormorant have also been found.

BDMLR would like to thank all their volunteers involved in this latest event. BDMLR's Devon coordinator Dave McDonald and Operations Manager Stephen Marsh are due to attend a multi-agency meeting hosted by the RSPCA this week, called to discuss the February disaster. This latest event will also now be on the agenda.

A brief BBC report can be found here.
