Rescuing abandoned and poorly seal pups is one thing, but transporting them safely to rehabilitation centres or release sites is quite another.
Pets on the Move based at Glasgow Airport have very kindly donated 10 crates to BDMLR. BDMLR Assistant Co-ordinator for Inverness & Moray, Carol Macarthur, is photographed taking receipt of the crates from that will be an invaluable asset to the area, speeding up rescue times once they strategically placed throughout the country. Grateful thanks are due to Rachael Todd (in photo) and Karen Jones from Pets on the Move, Glasgow, without whose help this could not have been possible.
Very soon after the relocation of the crates, one was used for the first time up in Kirkwall on Orkney. The pup had hauled out on the Shapinsay slipway in Kirkwall at about 3pm on 18th November and had to be moved out of the way of the incoming ferry before BDMLR volunteer Marc Herridge picked it up and took it to Orkney Seal Rescue.
